The Management Symposium (TMS)
1996 saw VBD organise The Management Symposium for the first time, just one year after the launch of The Veterinary Business Journal - the first magazine dedicated to the management and financial aspects of running a veterinary practice. The symposium was (and still is) designed as a dedicated management day, equipping veterinary surgeons and practice managers with the knowledge necessary to improve their businesses – the perfect complement to journal-based learning.
Originally held on the satellite day of BSAVA Congress, it quickly established itself as a key date in the CPD calendar. Consistently well-attended by new delegates as well as those returning year after year, The Management Symposium always looks to cover new ground, while maintaining its reputation as a trusted event.
Historically, the highest percentage of attendees are practice managers, followed by senior partners, partners, assistant veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses.
Since its inception, The Management Symposium has evolved with the addition of a series of one-day Autumn Workshops offering a more hands-on approach than the April event; and then the introduction of one-to-one expert advice at a series of half-day Summer Tutorials. This prompted a fresh new look to the event’s branding, with the name being shortened to just TMS, more accurately reflecting the increased scope and format of all the different management CPD events now available. All three events contribute towards your CPD activity, with the Summer Tutorials counting as three hours and the Spring Seminar and Autumn Workshops counting as six hours each.
New for 2009: TMS has partnered with Toojays Training & HR Consultancy in Peterborough to offer veterinary professionals a specially reduced price for a selected number of their open courses. Click here to open the brochure for full course details, prices and booking details.
