New Codes of Professional Conduct
From April 2012, new Codes of Professional Conduct will replace the Guides to Professional Conduct for vets and veterinary nurses.
The new codes have been developed following a period of consultation, and mark a significant change in structure from the old guide.
The new principles-based format gives a shorter, more concise, document that should be easily accessible to members of the veterinary profession and the public alike.
The code will be supported by guidance which will incorporate and improve upon much of the professional conduct advice that was spread throughout the guide, annexes to the guide and advice notes.
A hard copy of the relevant new code will be sent to all veterinary surgeons and registered veterinary nurses, and will also be available online.
