The Animal Welfare Foundation's annual Discussion Forum is to debate the use of animals for human benefit, from horse racing to livestock shows and hobby farming, and following recent applications for so-called 'super dairies', will ask if cows belong in fields.

Do cows belong in fields? The forum encourages lively debate on topical issues in animal welfare and brings together members of the veterinary profession, parliamentarians and key bodies associated with animal welfare.

The forum uses the expertise of the audience to generate practical suggestions that will improve specific animal welfare issues with a view to influencing future British Veterinary Association animal welfare policy.

The event will take place at the Royal College of Physicians, 11 St Andrews Place, Regent's Park, London NW1 4LE on May 14, 2012 from 10:30am to 5:00pm. The full programme is available to download here.

  • Summaries of the presentations and discussions will be made available after the event.
