Merial Animal Health has launched a smaller bottle size of its highly successful Zactran antibiotic. The new 50ml bottle has been launched in time for the 2011 autumn pneumonia season.
The new size supplements the existing 100ml and 250ml polypropylene bottles.
The product, which is licensed for the treatment and prevention of bovine respiratory disease, has rapidly become a preferred solution for many vets, as it offers fast-acting, longer-lasting treatment, claims the company.
Merial's veterinary adviser Fiona MacGillivray said: "During the housing period, calf pneumonia is a major concern and it is important that producers take all possible measures to try to prevent it.
"However, if it does occur they should consult their vets and treatment should be administered as soon as possible to avoid long-term damage to the calves' lungs. Treating with an effective product also helps to stop the disease spreading to the rest of the herd."
According to the company, this range of bottle sizes allows veterinary surgeons the opportunity to offer farmers a flexible, proven solution for the treatment and prevention of pneumonia.
- All three bottle sizes are available from your wholesaler.
