Elanco personnel take part in Global Day of Service
Members of staff from Elanco Animal Health took part in a Global Day of Service on October 6 — a community initiative that saw employees of Eli Lilly, Elanco's parent company, involved in non-profit organisations.
Members of staff from Elanco Animal Health took part in a Global Day of Service on October 6 — a community initiative that saw employees of Eli Lilly, Elanco's parent company, involved in non-profit organisations.
With the goal of helping to alleviate world hunger, spearheading agricultural leadership, enhancing the human-animal bond and caring for the environment, employees took part in worthwhile initiatives at projects throughout the UK, including:
- The Oasis Nature Garden in South London, and
- Growing 2gether in Kingsclere, Hampshire.
An organisation committed to providing exciting and challenging play opportunities for disabled and young people in the local community, the Oasis Nature Garden recently received lottery funding to provide a local food growing scheme. The new initiative will promote healthy eating and help the children and their families to understand the links between health and nutrition. 
Tasks carried out by Elanco's personnel included building and waterproofing storage units under a tree house, clearing away weeds from a section of the garden, tidying up the vegetable patch and making a selection of signs for the project.
The Growing 2gether project is a food growing enterprise that provides opportunities for all sections of the local community, particularly those at a social disadvantage or with a disability, to learn horticultural skills to grow their own produce and interact socially.
The Elanco team weeded the orchard to prepare it for seeding and cleared an area behind one of their greenhouses.
